KENYA TOURISM BOARD SET TO HOST WORLD TRAVEL AWARDS IN OCTOBER 1 6TH THIS YEAR




World Travel Awards is set to be hosted by Kenya tourism board on October 16th 2013 this comes after the Europe hosting their award on 31 August 2013 at Cornelia Diamond Golf Resort & Spa in Antalya, Turkey and Caribbean and North American set to host their award  on September 14th 2013. World travel award serves to acknowledge, rewarding and celebrating across sector of the global travel and tourism industry. Kenya got the privilege of hosting the this award  due to its heels of the award of Africa leading Tourism Board by WTA December last year. Also this year in the month of February KTB was honored with the Best African Tourism Board in the Africa Safari awards that was held in London England.

World travel Award (WTA) has made a perfect timing to come to Kenya After successful peaceful general elections under new constitution. This will improve Kenya’s Tourism’s profile after it was destroyed by 2007/2008 election Disputes. The Director of KTB Murithi Ndegwa said “That (WTA) has chosen Kenya for the African region ceremony as part of the world grand tour, is an endorsement of the country as a preferred tourism destination in the world”.

Cooke, President and Founder, of WTA added, “The selection of our hosts is fundamental to the success of our awards programme, and Kenya as a nation has all the ingredients to rise to the challenge of hosting our Africa Ceremony – a warm, vibrant and progressive nation, brimming with enthusiasm and creativity. 

In Kenyan economy tourism contributes 12% of GDP. The future of tourism in Kenya is bright despite of the rising cases poaching in our country. We still have our best natural resources, its unrivaled wildlife experiences and pristine beaches. This world travel award WTA will be attended by Government officials and industry leaders, luminaries and international media. For this years’ Gala Event, travel, tourism and hospitality organizations from 30 countries will compete for these prestigious top accolades culminating in a glittering Gala Presentation Ceremony in Kenya.

The Africa region categories will see new winners across three new Awards which seek to identify and find the leaders across several categories. These will include Awards for “Leading Hotel Suite”, “Leading Family Resort” and “Leading Meetings & Conference destination”.

Hundreds of senior travel decision-makers from Africa are scheduled to attend the gala evening, which will include a gourmet dinner, top entertainment, as well as the presentation of the prestigious awards.
