NEMA SUPPORTS THE PROTECTION OF LAMU SAN DUNES

The peace full sanctuary of Lamu listed by UNESCO in 2001 as a world heritage site has enough to worry about the proposed ports international airport and railway by the Government of Kenya threatening to shatter its tranquility.But the good news is that the sleepy historic town can welcome NEMA'S new support :the national environmental authority has declared all developments near water catchment areas illegal notable Lamu source of fresh water the sand dunes Developers and illegal dwelling  already in place along these vital dunes will have to think again or move.

Cast into the Indian Ocean off the Northan Coast  of kenya the island and town of Lamu offers great and distinct traditions that have been their over 100 years ago. the culture that is embrace in Lamu " swahili culture" and the style are rich in a cocktail of cultures of East African, Arab and Indian inflences. this offer the great experience to our tourists when they visit lamu Kenya.

We all want or country Kenya to grow and investors to invest in Kenya. Am not against the development of Lamu ports and International Airport in Lamu but my worries is what about the decency of our beaches in Lamu the sand dunes the great Experience that makes tourist Enjoy about Lamu . tourism is the third most Economic Gainer in Kenya and we need to Embrace it. Thanks to NEMA for joining in to help Lamu Citizen to protect their Heritage. which will also benefits the Hotel and resorts that around Lamu
